I’ve just returned from a wonderful art tour of the Kimberley in the north of Western Australia, with Aussie Redback Tours and Melbourne artist and tutor Greg Allen.  We spent 11 days visiting, painting, walking, and photographing this amazing place. Photos don’t really do it justice – you really do have to experience it for yourself.  The boab trees are so iconic of this area and it was absolutely wonderful to see so many (and I even painted a couple). The ever-changing colours in the mountain ranges were fascinating, as was the wildlife everywhere around us.

Amongst the areas we visited were Wyndham, Kununurra, Lake Argyle, Ord River, Marlgu Billabong, The Grotto, Pentecost River, Parry Creek Lagoon, and Keep National Park (just over the border in the Northern Territory).  Our tutor Greg Allen demonstrated amazing paintings every day and rose to the challenge of painting the Kimberley in his own impressionistic style.

Passengers came from WA, Vic, and NSW, and got along so well, chatting and sharing ideas from breakfast till dinner!
