Notes to Self and to You…
I love notes. I probably write a dozen notes a day, about all sorts of things, inspirational notes, appointment reminders, shopping lists, phone numbers, reminder to put the retic on or bring the washing in or put the bins out. They’re endless. But my favourite notes are those that guide me in my art journey and my life journey. I have a notebook which I add to often after I’ve read a new book or seen a movie, or attended a seminar that has inspired me. I write anything down that is meaningful to me and that might be useful in my daily life or my art journey. I usually write my notes on scraps of paper first and drop them on my desk, then once there are a few, I re-write them in my special notebook. I read it often. It’s one of my favourite personal items.
I’d like to share some of those notes with you, so here goes, in no particular order. I hope they inspire you too:
- Expect the unexpected. Be open to change
- Believe in the unknown – it is out there
- Take the time to thank the people who have made a difference in your life – email, letter, visit
- Life is too short to be cranky
- Forgive everyone – especially yourself
- You don’t always have to be strong. Let the tears flow when they need to
- Live the life you love. Some people wait all week for Friday, all year for summer, all life for happiness. Don’t let that be you
- Admit when you are wrong
- No matter how crazy and messed up your world feels inside, there is always someone who thinks you are completely amazing
- Move forward – yesterday is a cancelled cheque. The past is not your potential. There are far better things ahead than any you leave behind. The future is a blank canvas. Decide that you will thrown ll the paint on it you can
- Manifest what you want. Write it down and make it happen
- Be grateful – stop and view your life through the eyes of the other six billion people on earth. Literally hundreds of millions of people would gladly trade places with you right now
- It’s the little things that count – a smile, a helping hand, a caring heart, a word of praise, a moment of shared laughter. Savour them all
- Hang out with people who inspire you. Leave the negative ones alone
- What other people think about us is none of your business
- Channel anger into writing or painting (or music/dance etc). Don’t think – DO
- You can never cross the ocean unless you have the courage to lose sight of the shore. “Christopher Columbus”
- If you want to fly with the eagles, don’t swim with the ducks!
- Avoid mindless TV shows
- Treat yourself occasionally because you deserve it
- Believe in your own magic
So there you go. Have you got any words of encouragement or inspiration that I can add into my notebook?
Here is a link to some inspirational quotes by famous people – https://liveboldandbloom.com/07/quotes/words-of-encouragement. My favourite? This one:
“Character cannot be developed in ease and quiet. Only through experience of trial and suffering can the soul be strengthened, ambition inspired, and success achieved.” ~Helen Keller
