Description
Join me as we paint one of Western Australia’s hidden gems – London Bridge, near Sandstone. Despite its famous name, this spectacular natural rock formation couldn’t be more different from the bridge that spans the River Thames! Rising from the rugged outback landscape, its rich red sandstone, ancient weathered textures and endless blue skies make it a dream subject for watercolour.
In this step-by-step tutorial, we’ll explore how to capture the warm earth tones of the sandstone, create convincing rocky textures, and paint the brilliant Western Australian sky using simple watercolour techniques. We’ll work through the painting one stage at a time, making it suitable for painters with some basic watercolour experience while still offering plenty of opportunities for more experienced artists to add their own style.
So, pop the kettle on, gather your paints, and let’s head into the heart of the outback to paint one of Australia’s most remarkable natural landmarks together.
